ZISU Chinese & International Students Explore Zhejiang's Smart Transportation Industry to Broaden Global Perspectives

December 5, 2024 – A delegation of Chinese and international students from Zhejiang International Studies University was invited to attend the 6th Zhejiang International Smart Transportation Industry Expo. Co-hosted by Zhejiang Provincial Department of Transportation, Zhejiang Development and Reform Commission, Zhejiang Department of Economy and Information Technology, and Hangzhou Municipal Government, the event showcased the latest innovations across five thematic pavilions: Road & Rail, Aviation Industry, Port & Shipping Logistics, Digital Transportation and Green & Low-Carbon Solutions.

The students witnessed dynamic demonstrations including unmanned helicopter flights and interacted with intelligent vehicles and fighter jet displays. These immersive experiences vividly illustrated the integral connection between transportation systems and modern life.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both Chinese and international students to deepen their understanding of Zhejiang's culture and transportation industry while fostering cross-cultural exchanges and friendships. After the event, many students shared that this experience gave them fresh perspectives on Zhejiang and sparked their interest in potentially studying or working in the province in the future.

I really enjoyed it. The complex technologies, trains, and airplanes, though somewhat hard to comprehend, the scale of the booths built by the companies truly left me in awe.

"This was my first time participating in an event with international students. The countless exhibits – particularly the 'Wings of Zhejiang' display – gave me a profound appreciation for Zhejiang's rapid advancements in smart transportation, which was truly exhilarating.

During the activity, I had the fortune of meeting a student from Central Africa. By remarkable coincidence, his native language happened to be the very subject I'm studying. Though he had only studied Chinese for three weeks, his passion for learning and rapid progress were truly admirable.

The "Discovering Zhejiang" series combined cultural experiences, visits to the transportation industry expo, and industry networking activities, aiming to enhance students' understanding of Zhejiang and China through hands-on learning and experiences. As an active organizer of the event, our college is committed to promoting students' well-rounded development through such activities.
